About the Brewery

Words of Welcome

The banks of Wakayama prefecture’s Kinokawa River have been home to sake breweries since the middle of the Edo period (19th century). Our brewery, or sakagura, was founded in 1914 by Yoshimura Hideo, who was born into a raw silk producer’s family. The waters of the Kinokawa River have long sustained local history and culture, and are an indispensable treasure for sake brewing. All our sake is brewed with water from the underground flow of the Kinokawa.

Rice, of course, has long been a staple food for the Japanese people, and still plays a vital role in all our lives. Our job here is to use that rice with gifts of nature like pure water and natural microbes, to brew exceptional sake.

Making sake in this beautiful environment is like being part of a sacred ritual, and the greatest reward is the pleasure our customers find when enjoying it with a meal.

From casual dinnertime to life’s great events, we hope that our sake brings a touch of joy and satisfaction to every meal.
